Index's Team Sharing feature is similar to Sideline's original Team Number feature, but it also includes the ability for you and your team to use business tools and Index Web.
If you have a Sideline Team Number account and wish to switch to Team Sharing at this time, follow the instructions below.
Important to note:
- Your call and message data WILL transfer over when you migrate to Index so as long as you follow the steps outlined below.
- Enterprise accounts cannot also subscribe to Team Sharing as those two account types are incompatible at this time. You will have to close Enterprise and subscribe to a Team Sharing account.
Upgrade to Team Sharing
Step 1: Download Index
The Team Admin (owner) should receive a “Download Index” pop-up where they can easily migrate to Index and transfer all texts, call history, and team settings automatically.
Tip: Have the person who is in charge of subscriptions and billing download and log into Index as they will automatically become the Team Admin (owner of the account).

Step 2: Log into Index (Admin)
Existing Sideline Team Sharing accounts can seamlessly log into Index using their current Sideline login information (number and password). They do not have to create a NEW Index account.
The Admin on the account will need to log into Index BEFORE the team members do. To check who is the Admin, view Sideline Settings > Team Sharing, then see who is labeled the "Admin."
Step 3: Subscribe to Index (Admin)
Once logged in, the Admin must subscribe to an Index plan (since Index is treated as a separate subscription from Sideline).
You’ll see a pop-up with details and a “Subscribe to Index” button that will take you to your subscription page to select your subscription length. Once you’re ready, click the button to proceed.
Step 4: Team Member Login
Now that the Admin has activated Team Sharing for Index, members of the team can download Index mobile (if they haven’t already done so) and log in using their Sideline login information.
Once logged in, they are automatically added to the Index team.
FYI:
- Members received a text message to their mobile number inviting them to the Index team (after the Admin activates the Index account). This text includes a link to download Index.
- Once the Sideline team has been migrated to Index, ALL members will be automatically logged out of Sideline.
Step 5: Cancel Sideline Subscription (Admin)
After you've subscribed to an Index plan, the Admin on the Sideline Team will need to cancel the Sideline subscription to avoid duplicate charges since Index is treated as a separate subscription.
