Sideline has no restrictions for who we will release our numbers to when porting out; however, the gaining carrier may not accept your number. We advise you to check with the carrier of your choice before you unlock your Sideline number for porting out.
Note: Wireless-only carriers, such as Google Voice and Cricket, have historically not accepted Sideline numbers for porting in due to our numbers being classified as VoIP.
Please contact your new carrier directly to ensure they allow the port-in of VoIP numbers, as Sideline numbers are classified as such.
More Details to Consider:
- Any errors that arise during the port-out process will need to be handled through the service you're taking your number to.
- Since Sideline numbers are VoIP numbers (and not true Wireless numbers), the porting process will typically take between 1-5 business days.
- To unlock the number, you'll just need the Account and PIN number found under the Number Porting section in your Settings. From there, selecting Port-Out Number will reveal your Account and PIN number.
