With Sideline Pro, you have the ability to view/edit Notes at any time. You can add, view, and/or edit from the following places within the app:
- Contact Panel (Pro iOS only)
- Contact Details Screen
- Adding Notes to an unsaved contact
- Important Items
Important: When importing a contact to your Pro address book, any information contained in the Notes section will import. There is currently a bug with Pro iOS where the Notes will not copy over. We are currently working on a fix.
From the Contact Panel
Note: This feature is available for Pro iOS subscribers only at this time. The Pro feature set is temporarily limited on Android.
To add a note in the Contact Panel:
- Tap the "Add Notes" area (seen below your Templates)
- Type in the notes you would like to save under your contact
- Click "Save"
If you do not wish to add notes to the contact, you can dismiss the view by clicking "Cancel" at any time.
Important: Notes will be unsaved if you cancel.
From the Contact details screen
Notes are viewable and editable from the Contact details screen. You can access the contact details screen from your inbox (if you have an existing conversation with the customer or from the address book)
To add/edit a note:
- Tap the notes field or click "Edit" on the contact you want to create notes for
- Tap the 'Notes' field (below your Contact's phone number)
- This will bring up the keyboard
- Type in the notes you would like to save under your contact
- To save, click "Done"
To view your Notes for a specific contact, tap on the contact name or number from your Sideline Contacts.
Adding notes to an unsaved contact:
- A new contact will automatically be created with the name "no name" if you add a Note
- To create a Sideline contact (to attach your new Note to), view our article: How to import, create, edit and delete Contacts
Important items to be aware of:
- If your Notes content is too lengthy, or you've maxed out on the size limit for your Note (16MB), you may find that the text is cut off at the end when you:
- paste content
- import from your device's Contacts
- If you answer a Sideline incoming call, or you background the app, your Notes will auto-save from where you left off
- From the Contact Details screen:
- If you cancel/exit out of the app or log out, your Notes will auto-save.
- If you choose to add Notes to an unsaved contact from the "edit view" you will have to click 'Done' to save Notes and other information. If you press 'Cancel', it will not save info.
- If you add notes from the Contact Details screen, they will automatically be saved (there is no "Save" button)
- Viewing Notes in the Contact Panel (Pro iOS only)
- The Contact Panel displays only a limited number of lines, so to view the note you've added in its entirety, tap the Notes section to go into edit mode for a full view and the ability to scroll through the Note.
If you have further questions on how to view, edit or add Notes, please submit a request.
