As a Sideline Pro subscriber, you may have questions before making the transition to our new app, Index. We've put together a list of common questions to help you understand what options you have as a current Pro subscriber.
What is Index & how does it differ from Pro?
Index is designed to give small businesses more time and money by providing a set of simple, text-based tools to run and grow your business. Index includes your current Pro features along with a couple of new business tools.
What options do I have at this time?
If you want to continue to use the Pro features and gain access to the new tools to help run your business, you should migrate to Index at this time.
However, if you don’t need the Pro features, you should downgrade your Pro subscription to Sideline Standard as soon as possible. If you do nothing and keep your subscription as-is, you will still be able to use Sideline for the time being, but Pro features will be removed in the future and at that time, you will no longer be able to use Pro and its feature set.
If I migrate to Index…..
Will all my messages, pictures/videos, and voicemails transfer?
Yes, for the most part, your conversations, including messages, pictures and videos, voicemails, and call history will be migrated to Index. Keep in mind that initially, it may take some time to download all of your conversations to the inbox.
Please note: If you have a large number of conversations in your Pro inbox, the oldest messages may not transfer (anything before 2018) as there is a limit on the device itself for how many messages are stored.
Will my subscription price increase?
No. Sideline Pro subscribers can use Index for the price that they are currently paying for Pro. Your subscription rate will not increase so long as you continue to pay for your Pro subscription.
- You do not need to create an Index account. After downloading Index, simply log into Index with your Sideline Pro login credentials.
- You do not need to update your current subscription to use Index. Your active Sideline Pro subscription will allow you to use Index, so there’s no need to update your subscription via the app.
Will I lose my Pro Contacts?
No, all of your Sideline Pro contacts will be migrated to Index, along with the saved information in the Contact Details screen (Phone number, email, address, notes, etc).
Note: It may take some time to download all of your contacts if you have a large list of contacts in your address book.
Will the Pro Settings I had saved transfer?
Yes, most of the Pro Settings you have saved will migrate to Index such as; voicemail greeting, Auto-Reply messages, Signature, and your Pro feature Settings (Business Profile/Hours, Templates, etc).
What will not migrate over and will need to be re-saved in Index:

What if I change my mind after migrating to Index? Can I still switch back to Sideline?
For the time being, you can freely switch between Sideline and Index. Your message history will be synced between the two apps so there’s no worry about having missing parts of a conversation in one app or the other.
- You can only be logged into one app at a time. Both Sideline and Index route through your carrier number, so if you were logged into both apps, the numbers that we use to route your calls wouldn’t know which app to send the incoming call to.
- When you log into one app, you will be automatically logged out of the one you were currently logged into.
If I don’t migrate to Index…
If I don’t migrate now, can I still migrate later if I change my mind?
Yes, you can migrate from Sideline to Index at any time. However, we recommend migrating sooner rather than later as we are offering our loyal Pro customers the Index app and its new business tools for the same price you are currently paying for Pro.
We are only allowing you to lock in your Pro price for a limited time if you make the switch. That is why it’s best for you to make the switch soon to prevent having to pay the app store price of $24.99/mo.
Will I lose the Pro features and if so, when?
Yes, as stated above, if you do not migrate to Index and keep your Pro subscription as-is, you will lose the Pro features as we will be removing them in the future and placing them in Index.
Can I still use Pro?
You can use Pro for the time being, but soon, the Pro features will be removed from Sideline and you will no longer be able to use Pro tools without an Index account.
If I downgrade to Sideline Standard, will I lose my Sideline contacts?
No, your Pro contacts will stay with your account even if you downgrade to Standard. However, if you have tags associated with some or all of your contacts, those will be removed since that is a Pro and Index feature only.
I am a Pro 3/6/12 month subscriber. I can’t downgrade to a Standard plan immediately. What can you do to help me?
Unfortunately, due to the App Store/Google Play Store rules, you cannot downgrade immediately and will need to wait until the end of your subscription to downgrade.
