Privacy Protection helps keep your personal information from being linked to your Sideline number, giving you an extra layer of privacy.
Once enabled, Privacy Protection also monitors data broker websites for your personal information and helps remove it when found.
How does Privacy Protection work?
Privacy Protection helps keep your personal information private by preventing it from being linked to your Sideline number.
After you enroll, Privacy Protection identifies personal information associated with you on data broker sites and submits removal requests on your behalf. You can follow the progress in your dashboard.
Privacy Protection is available with eligible Sideline subscriptions. To get started, complete the Privacy Protection setup form in the app.
How do I enroll?
If your subscription includes Privacy Protection, you’ll be prompted to complete a short setup form after subscribing.
Enter the requested information, including your name, age, city, and state. This information helps match you with records on data broker sites.
Submitting the form by tapping "Enable Protection" starts enrollment automatically. Once enrollment is successful, you’ll see a confirmation that the data removal process has started.
What if I selected “Maybe Later”?
You can finish setting up Privacy Protection from the Privacy Center:
- Open your Sideline Inbox.
- Tap the Privacy Center icon
in the top navigation bar.
- Select the option to complete your Privacy Protection setup.
- Complete and submit the form.
Selecting Maybe Later does not enroll you. You’ll need to complete setup before data removal can begin.
How do I know if Privacy Protection is active?
Open the Privacy Center from the inbox and check your Privacy Protection status:
- Protected: You’re enrolled in Privacy Protection.
- Unprotected: You haven’t completed enrollment. Follow the prompt to finish setting up.
Protected means you’re enrolled—it does not mean all your information has already been removed. Open your dashboard to check removal progress.
What is a data broker?
A data broker is a company that collects information about people from sources such as public records and commercially available databases. Some brokers publish this information on people-search websites or sell access to it.
How does my information become exposed?
Your information may be collected from public records, online directories, and other sources, then combined into a profile. That profile can make personal details easier for others to find.
What kind of information can be exposed?
Depending on the site, a listing may include details such as your:
- Name
- Personal phone number
- Current or previous addresses
- Age
- Relatives or other associations
The information available varies by person and data broker.
Why should I remove my information?
Removing personal information from data broker sites can make it harder for others to find and use those details for unwanted contact or scams.
It’s one way to reduce your online exposure, but it does not guarantee that your information will disappear from every website or that all unwanted contact will stop.
How long does removal take?
Removals typically take 1–4 weeks. Enrollment starts the process; removal is not immediate.
You can check your dashboard while requests are in progress.
How do I check removal progress?
- Open the Privacy Center (
icon) from your Sideline Inbox toolbar.
- Tap View Dashboard.
- If an introduction screen appears, tap View My Dashboard to continue.
Your dashboard shows removal progress, including records being processed and brokers contacted.
