Yes, the option to record and transcribe calls is available for Sideline iPhone users, depending on the phone and iOS version (as noted below).
Important: You must be using an iPhone 15 or newer device AND be running iOS version 18.1 or above for this feature to be available in Sideline (these are Apple's requirements to utilize their "Call Recording" feature).
How it works:
Recorded calls get transcribed in real-time and added to the iPhone's "Notes" app. Check out Apple's tutorial video for details on how it works.
To start recording a call:
- During a Sideline call, view the call screen.
- Tap the "Call Recording" icon on the top-left of the screen (as pictured below).
- Siri will then alert everyone on the call that this call will be recorded.
- From there, the Notes app will display a pop-up stating a new note has been created.
To stop recording the call: To stop recording before the call ends, tap the red stop button, or just end the call to stop the recording automatically.
To view your recorded calls:
- Open the Notes app.
- There will be a special folder titled "Call Recordings" where you can view transcriptions of your recorded calls.
- You can play the recordings, search or skip to sections, or have Apple AI summarize the call (if available).
