How to send & accept a Team Sharing invite

Sending an Invitation

The user with the Sideline account (that includes the number you wish to be shared with multiple people) will need to send the invitation. Here's how:

1. Sideline Settings
2. Tap 'Team Number' (and tap 'set up if you are new to Team Number)
3. Tap 'Invite Member' 
4. Choose the contact (or enter the cell number) you wish to send the invite to
   • Note: If you receive an error at this point, please visit this article to understand the steps you're recipient will need to take before you can continue the invite process. 
5. A pop-up 'Add to Team Number' will display > Tap 'OK' (or 'Cancel' if this was done in error)
6. You'll then see 'pending' noted next to the contact name or number indicating that your invite was successfully sent
   • The recipient of the invite will stay 'pending' until they can successfully accept the invite (steps are seen below).

Accepting an Invitation 

Please share these steps with the recipient of the invite to have them successfully accept the invite and be added to the Team Number account. 

The recipient of the invite will get a text message to their cell number (as pictured below) which includes the invite link with instructions to download Sideline as a first step.

Instructions: 

1. Tap the link included in the text to download Sideline from the Google Play Store
2. Once downloaded, open Sideline and tap 'Log In' (do not create a new account)
3. Enter your cell phone number in the number field
4. Create your own personal password (the password should not be shared across multiple devices)

Sending an Invitation

The user with the Sideline account (that includes the number you wish to be shared with multiple people) will need to send the invitation. Here's how:

1. Sideline Settings
2. Tap Team Number (and tap 'set up' if you are new to Team Number)
3. Tap Invite Member
4. Search and select the contact name or number you want to invite
   • Note: If you receive an error at this point, please visit this article to understand the steps you're recipient will need to take before you can continue the invite process. 
5. A pop-up Add to Team Number will display > tap OK (or 'Cancel' if this was done in error)
6. You'll then see 'pending' noted next to the contact name or number indicating that your invite was sent successfully

Accepting an Invitation 

The steps below are for the person who receives the invite to the team and include steps on how to accept the invite.

The recipient of the invite will get a text message to their cell number which includes the invite link with instructions to download Sideline as a first step.

Once Sideline is downloaded and running the most recent app version, the invitee will need to:

Step 1: Create a Sideline Account

1.  Open the Sideline app.
2. Tap Create New Account from the welcome screen (do not attempt to log in).
3. On the "What Brings you to Sideline?" screen, choose any of the following features:
   1. Calling & Texting
   2. Phone Number
4. Tap Continue.
5. Enter the following information in the Create an Account Screen:
   1. First Name
   2. Last Name
   3. Email (required)
   4. iPhone Number (10-digit number)
   5. Create a password (must fall within 6-25 characters)
6. Once you've entered all information, Tap Continue.

Please note: If your device number is currently associated with an existing Sideline account, you'll receive an error message, and won't be able to join the team (the person who invited you will receive an error when sending the invitation as well.)

Step 2: Verify your Number

Once your account has been created, you will need to verify your number. 

1. A verification screen will pop up, and you should soon receive a verification text from us.
2. Enter the 4-digit verification code in the verification field (you'll receive a 'code confirmed' if successful).
   • If you didn't receive the code, tap 'Resend Code'

Note: If you are unable to receive a verification text, choose "Call Me Instead", and we'll place a call to your device. When you answer, press "1" to be verified.

Step 3: Accept Team Number Invite

After you've verified your number, the Team Number invite will display. To accept the invite, tap the Accept Invitation button.

Step 4: Allow Sideline Permissions

Once you've followed steps 1-3 above, you'll need to ensure Sideline has permissions enabled so you can join the team and share the number.

1. Notifications > tap Allow.
2. Contacts Access > tap OK.

Notifications are required so you can be notified of incoming calls and texts, and contacts permissions are necessary so you know who's calling/messaging you.
