How do I place a call?

--Tab 1 Start--

1. From your contact list
2. From the inbox
3. From a conversation thread 
4. From the dial pad

Contact List

To place a call on your Android from your Sideline contact list:

1. Tap on the Contacts icon to display Sideline's address book 
2. Find your contact: Scroll through your list of contacts, or begin typing the name of who you'd like to call in the search bar
3. Once you have found your contact, tap their name > tap the phone icon to call

Inbox

To place a call from an existing conversation in your inbox:

1. Tap and hold the conversation straight from the inbox to quickly place a call (a green circle will appear and will connect your outgoing call)

Please Note: You cannot use this function to place a call to a group conversation. 

Conversation Thread

To place a call from a single conversation: 

1. Tap on the conversation with the person you wish to call
2. Tap the green phone icon on the top right of the screen to place the call

Dial Pad

To place a call from your dial pad: 

1. Click on the Call icon (9 dots icon on the toolbar)
2. Type in the number you wish to call (including the area code)

Additional Notes: 

• If you’re on the latest Android OS, and you can't place an outgoing call, check your device settings to confirm that phone permissions are enabled.

• If you receive the error message "number has been disconnected" or "number is no longer in service" when placing or receiving calls, please refer to our Sideline Service Status Page first to check if there are any current calling disruptions within Sideline.

Contact List

To place a call on your iPhone from Sideline's contact list:

1. Tap on the Contacts icon to display Sideline's address book 
2. Find your contact: Scroll through your list of contacts, or begin typing the name of who you'd like to call in the search bar
3. Once you have found your contact, tap their name > tap the green phone icon to call
4. A screen will pop up confirming you want to place a call to the contact/number > tap Call

Please Note: If you are on iOS 10.3, you will see a pop-up asking you to confirm the call you are placing. The number displayed is your outbound Sideline pilot number (the number we use to connect your calls) 

Inbox

To place a call from an existing conversation in your inbox:

Tap and hold the conversation straight from the inbox to quickly place a call. A green circle will appear and will connect your outgoing call (as pictured below.)

Please Note: You cannot use this function to place a call to a group conversation. 

Conversation Thread

1. Tap on the conversation with the person you wish to call
2. Tap the green phone icon on the top right of the screen to place the call
3. Confirm again by tapping 'Call' via your Sideline pilot number (as explained above)
