Porting is a fancy term for transferring a phone number from one service provider to another.
With Sideline, you can either port an existing number into Sideline (i.e. transferring a number from AT&T to Sideline), or if you leave, you can port your number out of Sideline (i.e. transferring your number out of Sideline and to Verizon, for example).

Note: If you port out your Sideline number, you will no longer have a Sideline number on your account and will need to choose a new one in order to continue using Sideline while your port is in process.
Important to note:
- Do not cancel or close your account before or during the process - porting your number out may take 1-5 days (depending on the time the other service provider takes to process the request). Therefore, you should wait until you have received confirmation from them that your number has successfully been ported in.
- It is required to pay a one-time fee of $19.99 to unlock the number (unless you originally ported your number into Sideline, you are exempt from paying the port-out fee).
- If you are currently subscribed, you will need to cancel your auto-renewing subscription through your app store. Otherwise, you'll continue getting charged your monthly subscription fee as porting does not automatically cancel your subscription.
