Yes, you have the option to port out your Sideline number to another carrier. Sideline does not place restrictions on who we will release our numbers to when porting out.
That said, the carrier you're porting to may not accept your number. We recommend checking with your chosen carrier before starting the porting process to confirm they will accept your Sideline number.
Note: Wireless-only carriers, such as Google Voice & Cricket, have historically not accepted Sideline numbers for porting in due to our numbers being classified as VoIP.
Items to note:
- If you did not port your number into Sideline originally, you will need to pay the port-out fee to port your number out.
- If you initially ported your number in, you are not required to pay the port-out fee.
- Your Sideline number will remain active until it is successfully ported to the new carrier. You will be able to receive calls, and messages & use Sideline as normal until the port has been completed. (More info)
- You cannot (nor can Sideline Support) cancel the port-out request once it's begun.
- Cancellation requests must be made through your NEW Carrier.
- If the carrier you're taking your Sideline number to says the account number is invalid, try adding a "1" before the number. We've found that can fix the port issue with the carrier.
After you have successfully ported your number, you will need to cancel your subscription through the App Store to avoid further charges (porting does not automatically cancel your subscription to Sideline).
If you have further questions or need assistance, please submit a request.
